This weekend marks our final GIFT sessions for the year. We hope you have enjoyed this year as we have been able to cover many topics related to social justice. We appreciated your enthusiasm and participation as we explored our call as Catholic Christians. We look forward to seeing you again next year!
FIRST EUCHARIST FAMILIES
If you are interested in picking up your child’s letter to Jesus, written on “Jesus Day”, please stop in the office. I have a folder on my desk with the letters in alphabetical order by first name. Several of the children have the same name, so please be sure you find the one belonging to your child. It makes a nice addition to the keepsake box!
What an exciting weekend as Bishop Cepeda was here to celebrate Confirmation with all of our second year students! All of your preparation and hard work has culminated in this final sacrament of initiation as adults in the Catholic church. Congratulations to all! We look forward to your continued participation in worship and service at St. Mary’s. Be sure and check the bulletin next week as we will recognize all who were confirmed.
First year students, if you haven’t turned in your Confirmation paperwork for this year, please do so as it was due by Easter. This includes your Service Hours Log, Come Holy Spirit journal and a list of speakers and service projects attended.
Vacation Bible School volunteer forms are available for all students who would like to help. VBS will be held June 17-21. This is a fun week and a great opportunity to get started on your hours. Even if you can’t commit to helping every day, we still need you.
Attention current 6th grade students: If you are planning to make your Confirmation in your 8th grade year, you will need to begin the two year preparation process in 7th grade. Part of the preparation includes 10 hours of service/participation each year. If you wish, you can begin to accrue these hours now. Please keep an eye on the Confirmation bulletin board in the classroom hallway at St. Mary’s as well as this bulletin article to see what opportunities are available. The service hours log to keep track of hours is posted by the bulletin board, as well as online. A meeting will be held in the fall for parents and students to learn more about the program.
Vacation Bible School
Registration forms for VBS are now on the our website, www.smoth.org. Our theme is “Son West Round Up” and we’re planning a rip roarin’ good time! Any child age 4 by 11/01/13 through grade 5 in fall of 2013 is welcome to sign up. You can also find volunteer sign up sheets on the website as well. We have an exciting week planned and hope your child can be a part of it. Parents, please consider giving of your time to volunteer, even if it’s only a few of the days. We still need many more volunteers to make our week a success. Childcare will be available for our parent volunteers.
